About me and my journey from 122kg to much less
I am a 53 year old man, I live in Manchester UK. During the pandemic, I gave up smoking and changed my job. I work as a response officer in security, which whilst sounding active involves lots of driving.
My weight ballooned, to 122kgs, my legs swelled beyond recognition. My blood pressure was uncontrollable with drugs, hitting 122/111 (an all time record at my clinic). So it was time to change, time to get fit, time to start living.
Why write a blog?
I have started this blog for two reasons. One, it keeps me motivated to lose weight and produce good content. Two, Lots of people ask me how I have achieved my weight loss, I like talking about my findings, the good and the bad.
I have never published anything like this before, this is a journey for me, I am hoping you will like my style and wit, hopefully trying to simplify the increasing bombardment of information that’s out there in the world wide web at the moment.
If you want help or just to chat, please comment or email , I only have one rule :- Be nice to each other.
Pete
My background.
I always find myself, when reading other blogs questioning, who is this person? What have they done, and more so, why are they writing this blog? So, I thought I would give you a bit of background to Pete Short. I was born in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria in the early 70’s and grew up there until I moved to Manchester about 26 years ago. I am educated to degree level; however, I have always worked in jobs that I find interesting. Most of my time in Manchester has been working in the Nightclub industry. Mainly as a manager however also working as a door supervisor. Whilst working as a nightclub manager, I also had a secondary job teaching adults in door supervision.
When Covid-19 came along and decimated the nightclub and bar industry, I needed work, so I took a job as a mobile security response officer, which I still do today.
Being single with no partner to moan at me, my weight grew and grew. My job dictated that convenience foods sometimes were the only food I could easily get, I found myself stopping at garages and service stations all the time. When you work nights driving a car, it’s so easy to stop and fill up on snacks and chocolate. Anyway, the time came to change (Read the Blog).
Having done the jobs listed, I have always had a knack for explaining things in a simple honest manner, and I have always enjoyed passing knowledge to others. Therefore, I decided to start a blog about my journey. Even as a confident ex-door supervisor and manager, I was reluctant to start this blog, since I know how harsh the internet can be. There is another reason for me starting this blog and that is, that this blog is now my accountability partner, I have committed to weight loss and to produce good content and continue to lose weight and exercise. Now I have the blog, I now have to carry on with my journey.
Well that’s a little about me, I really hope you will join me on my journey.
PS. For all you cat lovers, my cat is called Thomas Sebastian. he is 1.5 years old now, and never misses a workout with me!!!
